About Us

Since 1979 Dr Peter Mansfield's main mission in life has been to devise a way in which people of ordinary means can foster their health without having to wait until they become ill. His general practice in East London and then Lincolnshire proved that a service for health is very different from one against disease. With help from local professional friends he worked out the elements of a service and by 1980 was ready to experiment with it.

In 1996 he retired early from the NHS to devote himself to "Good HealthKeeping". Our experience is that with the right information at the right time, most people will be able to regain their health and independence within about two years - though it will not always be possible to repair permanent damage that previous ill-health has done. Until September 2006 this advice took the form of a membership package but we no longer require you to enter formally into membership. We are now available to anyone, at any reasonable time. Just e-mail or phone, and ask.
